BEULAH
BAPTIST CHURCH
A Southern Baptist Church
We Want to be "Your Church
In Your Community and Online!"
Our
History: Pensacola was recovering from the civil war when several
families arrived in their covered wagons and settled in this community. Williams
Ashbury Shelby headed one of the families. He and the other settlers were a
God-fearing people with much determination to establish their homes in the
haven they had found. Opening a Bible to Isaiah 62, verse 4, they decided
upon the name of Beulah for their community.
W.A. and Betty Shelby led the community to establish a church. Through their generosity, an acre and one half was donated for the construction of a Baptist church. Mr. Shelby was the first pastor and the church, known as Beulah Baptist Church, has been in continual existence through the years to the present day. Some of the early members were W.A. Shelby, Johnny Mathis, John Reeder, John Bryant, A.D. Penton, Andrew Busbee, Zach Reeder, T.L. Barrineau, George Faedke, Cain Hurst, Noah Butler, Theophilos Perry, Henry Garrett, Victor Resmondo, Gilbert Chestnut, and R.L. Davis.
Many of these early members are still represented in the congregation of Beulah Baptist Church as their descendents continue the plans God has for the community of Beulah through this church. Through the years the church has been blessed in many ways. During the last few years, the church has completely renovated the interior of all buildings and improved the landscape.
The church today is not only recognizing and celebrating its history but anticipating a great future as the Beulah community experiences tremendous growth and YOU are Welcome, too!!!
